Common questions
Do I need prior Fortinet experience?
No. CCNA-level networking is enough (IP addressing, routing basics, VLANs), and the course starts from the fundamentals of FortiOS. No CCNA? Our CCNA 2.0 course on pingmylab.in is free.
Which language are the classes in?
Hinglish: Hindi explanations, with every command, menu and term in English. Lab guides and notes are in English.
Which version of FortiOS is covered?
FortiOS 7.6, the version of the current NSE 4 exam (Fortinet NSE 4 - FortiOS 7.6 Administrator). Fortinet lists a FortiOS 8.0 edition of the exam as coming soon.
How do the labs work?
Two ways. Remote lab time on Ping My Lab’s hosted FortiGate, Cisco ISE and AD topology, in your browser, in 1-hour slots you book yourself, so no 32 GB PC is needed. And step-by-step guides to build the same labs on your own FortiGate VMs (EVE-NG, GNS3 or VMware). On Fortinet’s free trial VM (3 interfaces, 3 firewall policies and 3 routes, low encryption only, no FortiGuard) some steps can’t run; each lab guide marks them and gives a trial path.
